Let's take a moment to thank social media for its power in connecting people poles apart in ways we couldn't have even have thought before. 2018 Toronto International Film Festival is attended by celebrities from across countries. The film festival began on September 6, 2018, and will end on September 16, 2018.

Ryan Gosling, a popular Canadian actor was attending the event and a fan based in Canada did not want to lose the opportunity to meet him. In order to grab the actor's attention, Joelle Murray, the owner of Grinder Coffee in Toronto started a social media campaign inviting him to the shop. Her first tweet from the coffee shop's handle inviting Ryan Gosling reads, "Good news we are back on twitter cause Monday begins our #ryanneedsgrinder. Come have coffee with us @RyanGosling while you are in town for #TIFF2018." She shared it along with a cut out of his photo drinking coffee.

The tweet went viral and soon customers, staffs everyone at the coffee shop started posing with the photo. Even Toronto's Mayor John Tory dropped as the local news outlets took notice of the woman's unique campaign. She consistently posted pictures with the actor for nine days and guess what? Ryan actually went to meet the woman at her coffee shop!

Turns out Ryan has been seeing the tweets and it was his mother Donna Gosling who insisted him to pay Joelle a visit at her coffee shop. She even tweeted saying, "You can take the boy out of Canada but you can’t take the Canadian out of the boy! Thank you so much for your kind words Joelle. What Mom wouldn't want to hear that?! I am so happy it worked out!" Joelle also offered free coffee to Gosling's mother for life.
