James Gunn Confirms New Superman Movie is In Development, Henry Cavill to Not Return as the DC Superhero
Henry Cavill is confirmed to not be returning as Superman as a new film based on a Man of Steel early in his career is in development at DC Studios. The script is currently being written by James Gunn.
James Gunn has confirmed that a new Superman movie is part of his and Peter Safran's DC slate, which is being written by Gunn himself right now. Focusing on a Clark Kent early in his career, the head of DC Studios also confirmed that Henry Cavill won't be returning to play the Man of Steel, but have had meetings with him to explore future opportunities. Man of Steel 2's Status at DC Studios is Unclear, Henry Cavill's Return as Superman Up in the Air Once Again - Reports.

Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman's life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.
