Ponniyin Selvan: I is an upcoming Tamil language period action film directed by Mani Ratnam. It tells the story of Arulmozhivarman and how he takes over the throne of the Chola kingdom against a coup. The story will be narrated by Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, a messenger of Aditya Karikalan, who travels through southern kingdoms to pass on the messages between the Cholas.
