A Fast Track Special Court in Haryana has sentenced India national archery coach Kuldeep Vedwan to five years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually harassing a minor athlete. Additional Sessions Judge Narendra Singh pronounced the sentence on Wednesday, following Vedwan’s conviction on 15 May under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court also imposed a financial penalty of INR 15,000 on the convict. The prosecution proved that Vedwan made inappropriate physical advances towards a 17-year-old female archer in her hotel room during youth selection trials in April 2023.
