Jharkhand High Court Says Married Policeman’s Live-In Relationship Amounts to Violation of Service Rules After Police Official Acquitted in Rape Case
The high court bench of Justice SN Pathak further said that although the police official was acquitted in the rape case lodged by this live-in partner, it cannot be a ground for quashing his dismissal from service.
The Jharkhand High Court recently said that a married policeman's live-in relationship amounts to a violation of service rules while upholding his dismissal. The high court bench of Justice SN Pathak further said that although the police official was acquitted in the rape case lodged by this live-in partner, it cannot be a ground for quashing his dismissal from service. "It is unbecoming of a police personnel who was in live-in-relation with another lady other than wife and amounts to violation of rules whereby the service conditions of the petitioner are governed," the court said. The police official was suspended in June 2018 and a departmental proceeding was initiated against him after his live-in partner had lodged a rape case against him. The official had denied the charge but was dismissed from service. Jharkhand High Court Gets New Chief Justice.
