In a significant encounter in Kulgam, police, the Army, and CRPF officials have neutralized two terrorists. Javed Ahmad Matoo, DIG South Kashmir, confirmed that a substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, including two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and pistols. The identified terrorist, Umesh Ahmed Wani, a resident of Chawalgam village, had been active since joining The Resistance Front (TRF) in 2020, with multiple FIRs registered against him. The second individual, Aqib Sher Gojri, had been associated with the group since August 2022 and was involved in various terrorist activities across Kulgam, Pulwama, and Budgam districts. Investigations are ongoing, with DNA samples taken to confirm the identities of the deceased. Visuals of the recovered arms and ammunition have been released, highlighting the operation's success.
