Toy maker Mattel has launched its first-ever visually impaired Barbie. The move was made to make the iconic Barbie doll more inclusive and represent diverse sections of society. The blind Barbie comes dressed in outfits featuring tactile fabric, such as a satin blouse and textured ruffle skirt. The blind Barbie also carries a cane adorned with a marshmallow tip and sunglasses for eye protection. Mattel worked with several organisations, including the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIBP) and the AFB, to create the doll. Blind broadcaster, disability activist, and ambassador for the doll, Lucy Edwards, unveiled the doll.
