Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was spotted playing chess with D Gukesh after the Indian team's triumph at the FIDE Chess Olympiad 2024. Mandaviya shared a video for the same on his official 'X' handle. Gukesh was blindfolded and played chess with Mandaviya. Gukesh led the India men's team which won gold in the Chess Olympiad 2024 followed by the women's team as well. This was India's first gold medal at the Chess Olympiad and bettered their previous best performance of winning bronze. Gukesh was also accompanied by India women's chess team captain Harika Dronavalli.
