Jay Shah has been elected as the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). In a statement by the ICC, it was revealed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary was elected unopposed for the role. Shah thus becomes the youngest chairman in ICC history and joins the list of Indians, which includes Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar to hold the top post in the ICC. “I am humbled by the nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council," he said, as quoted by ICC upon his election as the new chairman of the global cricket body. He would assume his office on December 1, 2024.
