Jharkhand Wins Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26, Clinches Maiden Title After Captain Ishan Kishan Shines With Sensational Hundred As Haryana Suffer 69-Run Defeat in SMAT Final
Jharkhand won their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, beating Haryana in a one-sided SMAT Final, where Ishan Kishan, Bal Krishna and Sushant Mishra starred for the champion side. This is Jharkhand's second-ever domestic title, having lifted the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2010-11 edition.
Under Ishan Kishan's captaincy, Jharkhand created history, winning their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, beating Haryana by 69 runs in the SMAT 2025-26 final in Pune. Chasing 264 to win, apart from wicketkeeper Yashvardhan Dalal, who scored a 22-ball 53, no other Haryana batter crossed the 50-run mark, with Nishant Sindhu (31) and Samant Jakhar (38) failing to capitalise on their starts. Sushant Mishra and Bal Krishna claimed three wickets each, while others like Vikash Singh and Anukul Roy picked up two wickets apiece as Haryana bundled out for 193. Asked to bat first, Kishan starred with the bat, scoring a sensational 101, where the hundred came off merely 45 balls, making the SRH batter only the second Indian to achieve a ton in the SMAT Final. Kumar Kushagara, Anukul Roy, and Robin Minz contributed with cameos, scoring 81, 40,* and 31*, respectively, helping Jharkhand post a mammoth 263/3. For Haryana, Anshul Kamboj, Sumit Kumar, and Samant Jakhar claimed one wicket apiece.
