In an interesting development from Hove, Sussex County club has been handed an automatic 12-point deduction in the ongoing County Championship 2023 as a result of receiving four fixed penalties over the course of the 2023 season. Captain Cheteshwar Pujara has also been suspended for one match, Sussex's next game against Derbyshire. This has made sure that Sussex will not get promoted with the Division One next season.
