Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made cricket history on Friday night, becoming the first player ever to score 500 Powerplay runs in a single T20 tournament. The 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener achieved the milestone during the opening overs of the high-stakes IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 encounter against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Entering the knockout match with 490 Powerplay runs under his belt this season, the explosive left-hander needed just 10 runs to breach the historic mark. He reached the landmark cleanly in the third over of the match, dismantling David Warner’s decade-old previous benchmark of 467 runs set in 2016. The feat cements a breakthrough tournament for the young southpaw, who also sits atop the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race.
