The Tokyo Olympics was postponed from last year owing to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which has claimed millions of lives worldwide. Fans gathered outside the National Stadium in Tokyo ahead of the opening ceremony.
Amidst all the fireworks, there was a moment of silence maintained to honour the lives lost to the COVID-19 pandemic since last year as the opening ceremony took place at the National Stadium in Tokyo on July 23, Friday.
