Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra was sentenced to 12 months in jail for abandoning his family in France. He has two children with his wife Sandra Evra. But the star footballer has appealed over the verdict saying he has provided enough for their living.
After a legal battle over the ‘Family abandonment’ in Frace, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed the verdict against Patrice Evra. He was sentenced to 12 months in jail and Evra has been ordered to pay €4,000 for moral damages and €2,000 for legal costs. He has two children with his wife Sandra Evra. The French defender is alleged to owe nearly One million euros as unpaid alimony. However, as per reports, Evra has filed an appeal over the verdict stating he has provided enough to the family with a luxurious house in south France and also he lent his wife almost two million euros for her daily life.
