The WWE pay-per-view event kick-started with some shock as Dominik Mysterio turned on Rhea Ripley and cost her the Women’s World title. He chose reigning champion Liv Morgan and helped her to retain the title.

After a lot of build-ups for the Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan winning over Dominik Mysterio, the final showdown was settled at the WWE PPV (Pay-per-view) event. The SummerSlam 2024 was set to decide the fate of Dominik Mysterio’s on-screen ‘love life’ with the added incentive of winning the Women’s World Title. After showing support to Rhea on multiple occasions the deciding time came when Dom stopped Ripley from using a chair and reminded her that she couldn't win that way. Morgan used the distraction to hit ‘Oblivion’ for a win but failed. Dom later distracted the ref and Morgan ended up hitting a second Oblivion on the chair to get the win. Dom was smiling and left with Liv Morgan leaving spectators and Ripley stunned in the end.
