Mariyappan Thangavelu was originally picked to be India's flag-bearer in the opening ceremony, is in quarantine after possible exposure to COVID-19 during his flight to Tokyo. India has sent her largest contingent of 54 para athletes to the Paralympic Summer Games this year.
Javelin thrower Tek Chand has been named India's new flag-bearer in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 after Mariyappan Thangavelu was possibly exposed to COVID-19 and has been quarantined.
