Kerbs, filming from a safe distance with a zoom lens, shared the footage on Instagram, calling the individual “very foolish” and noting that “he almost didn’t make it out alive.” The video shows at least five wolves following the man as he first backs away before brazenly deciding to walk toward them. Parkgoers can be heard yelling, “Get the hell away from them!” and warning he was in “mortal danger.” The man gets within feet of a wolf before spraying what appears to be bear spray at the animals. Though he escaped unharmed, his reckless actions spread widely online. The National Park Service confirmed the man was located, cited, and is under investigation.
