Standings Slip Despite Broad Podium Return

Having ended Day 1 in fourth position with 11 medals (four gold, five silver, two bronze), India’s updated tally stands at 35 medals: nine golds, 11 silvers, and 15 bronzes.

Despite adding five golds on Tuesday, rapid title accumulation by delegations from China, Japan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and South Korea edged India down to sixth in the medal table. Nonetheless, with leading contenders in badminton, archery, and athletics still to compete, India remain well positioned to challenge for a top-five finish over the coming days.
