DC Win By 6 Wickets | Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians, Highlights, IPL 2026 Match 8: Sameer Rizvi Guides Team To Second-Straight Win

This is a stellar show by DC in chase. Mumbai Indians were in the game till the 10th over, but Sameer Rizvi played a spectacular knock, scoring 90, while Pathum Nissanka contributed with a 44 at the top. 

OUT! Sameer Rizvi looked to finish the match quickly and thus perished, to miss out on his maiden IPL ton. Rizvi went down the ground against Corbin Bosch, and handed a catch near the ropes for 90, but not before putting his team near the finish line. 

FIFTY! Sameer Rizvi is hitting fifites for fun, his second of the season. Rizvi's fifty came off 31 balls, which sees DC get in a commanding position. 

OUT! Mitchell Santner provides MI a crucial breakthrough. Pathum Nissanka lived dangerously during his stay, hitting his shots.  Nissanka went for the pull on one leg, but extra bounce saw the ball take top-edge to the fielder. 

Pathum Nissanka is single-handedly scoring all the runs for DC, however ugly they look.  Nissanka is nearing his maiden IPL half-century, while Sameer Rizvi is still batting on 3 in a partnership of 35.

OUT! A spectacular effort from Jasprit Bumrah sees Nitish Rana get run out at the non-striker's end. Rana went for a non-existent run, but Bumrah was too quick to grab the ball, turn, and hit the stumps. Sammer Rizvi again sees himself early in the middle.

OUT! A lucky break for MI as KL Rahul falls for 1. A down the leg side delivery, which Rahul wanted to flick but could only find a diving Ryan Rickelton. Deepak Chahar gives MI a perfect start. 

Mumbai Indians' innings never got any momentum, with wickets falling at regular intervals, and the two-paced nature of the pitch. Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch added 166 of 8, ensuring MI edged past the 150-run mark, with the latter finding two fours in the final over. 

The final few overs of the MI innings, and the team will hope Naman Dhir and Mitchell Santner finish big. Santner did a similar role for NZ in T20 World Cup 2026, while Dhir is the specialist finisher in the XI. 

Stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav is keeping the MI innings together, holding up one end. Yadav scored a crucial fifty, with Naman Dhir providing good support. The duo have added 37 off 21 balls, and will look to up the ante in the final phase of the innings

OUT! Delhi Capitals are all over MI, with bowlers picking wickets at regular intervals. Vipraj Nigam bowled a quicker one, which Sherfane Rutherford wanted to slog sweep, but managed to hand the fielder a simple one near the ropes.

OUT! A break in play sees Delhi Capitals gain fresh momentum as captain Axar Patel dismisses the well-set Rohit Sharma. Sharma went for the inside-out shot, but failed to get any elevation, handing a simple catch to Nitish Rana at off side. 

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have added 50 off 35 balls, ensuring MI do not lose wickets. Sharma is taking his time in the middle, while Yadav looks solid. The scoring rate remains quite low for an T20I, but given the firepower on bench, MI will not worry much.

After the fall of wickets, veterans Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav have managed to consolidate for MI. The duo have added 23 off 19 balls, with Sharma doing most of the scoring.  DC are yet to bring on their spinners, which will be eye in the middle phase. 

OUT! Mukesh Kumar is doing all the talking this over, getting his second wicket of the over. A change of pace saw Tilak Varma check his drive, which eventually saw the ball get lobbed back to Kumar for a simple catch and bowl. 

OUT! And Delhi Capitals get an early breakthrough thanks to Mukesh Kumar. Ryan Rickelton wanted to go over mid-wicket, but Kumar threw a delivery that was moving away from the batter, which saw the batter lob the ball to the fielder. 

Mumbai Indians will hope for their in-form openers, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton provide the team a solid start, and lay a platform for other batters to score swiftly. The right and left combination already provides an edge to MI, with bowlers needing to adjust their line and lenghts early on
