In a significant and unprecedented development for Indian cricket, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has permanently shifted his base to Bengaluru, designating the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (COE) as his permanent training facility for the foreseeable future. This move, reported by PTI, marks a departure from the traditional approach of centrally-contracted players, who typically visit the COE solely for rehabilitation, fitness assessments, or national camps. IPL Trade News 2027: Hardik Pandya to Leave Mumbai Indians, Could Reportedly Join KKR or Rajasthan Royals.

According to PTI, Pandya, aged 32, has rented a property on the outskirts of Bengaluru, strategically positioning himself close to the COE. A BCCI source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the shift, stating, "Hardik has already permanently shifted to Bengaluru. He has rented a property on the outskirts of the city, close to the COE. He will be the first Indian cricketer to make the COE his permanent training base for the remainder of his career."

Rationale Behind the Move

The decision stems from Pandya's desire to access the COE's comprehensive facilities regularly and to overcome logistical challenges he faced in Mumbai. "Hardik wanted to move out of Mumbai as commuting every day from his Lower Parel residence for training had become a problem," the BCCI source revealed. As a centrally-contracted cricketer, he has unfettered access to all resources at the COE, ranging from injury management to advanced skills training.

Pandya is currently recuperating from a quadriceps injury that sidelined him from the ongoing white-ball tour of the UK. He has spent considerable time at the COE over the past six months, undergoing rehabilitation and fitness work. His commitment to prolonging his career in white-ball cricket is evident, with intentions to play for at least another five to six years.

Personalised Training and Recent Fitness

Beyond the BCCI's extensive offerings, Pandya plans to supplement his routines by engaging his personal physiotherapist and a dedicated strength and conditioning (S&C) coach. He also reportedly covers the costs for net bowlers hired by the COE for his skill practice. Fact Check: Viral AI Photo of Hardik Pandya Meeting RCB Coach Andy Flower and Mentor Dinesh Karthik Fuels False Trade Rumors.

His recent fitness journey at the COE has been promising. Earlier in June 2026, Pandya reported to the facility on June 2 to undergo fitness drills and match simulations. He successfully passed his fitness test by June 9, 2026, and was subsequently cleared by the COE's sports science team to participate in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which commenced on June 13, 2026.

This strategic relocation underscores Hardik Pandya's unwavering dedication to his fitness and continued excellence in international cricket, setting a new precedent for how India's top cricketers manage their professional training. His decision could pave the way for other players to consider similar long-term engagements with the national facilities.
