In a major goof-up, International Cricket Council (ICC) shared an old video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and self-styled 'godman' Asaram Bapu at a rally. Interestingly, earlier in the day the Jodhpur Court convicted Asaram Bapu along with the two other accused in connection with the 2013 rape case of a 16-year-old girl. Though ICC deleted the tweet immediately, but by then the screenshot of the tweet was all over the internet.

ICC actually a quoted tweet from Pratik Sinha (@free_thinker) which had a video in it. Sinha wrote, “Sharing some old sweet memories between @narendramodi and Asaram,” along with the video. While ICC quoted the tweet and wrote, “Narayan, Narayan…”

After the mistake went viral, ICC apologised and launched an investigation into the tweet that went out from its official handle. "ICC is dismayed at a non-cricket related tweet appearing on its Twitter feed earlier today. We would like to extend our sincere apologies to anyone who was offended during the short space of time it was up," ICC said in a tweet after removing the post, the screenshot of which was shared multiple times. "We have launched an investigation into how this happened," the world body stated.

As soon as the tweet appeared, many users of the platform asked who was handling the ICC account, and the faux pas also left the Indian Cricket Board fuming. "This is unfortunate that an objectionable post has been attributed to the ICC official social media account. Not done. We did bring up the matter to the ICC's notice," said a top BCCI official.
