India continued its dominance over hosts West Indies with a clinical 59-run victory in the second ODI game between India and West Indies. Virat Kohli smashed several records en route his 42nd ODI century, while Shreyas Iyer, batting in an Indian ODI jersey in 18 months, made a valuable 70 to take India to 279 runs in 50 overs. Iyer and Kohli were involved in a century-run partnership.

Chris Gayle then overtook Brian Lara to become the highest ever ODI run-getter for West Indies. But he couldn't get going and despite a fighting partnership between Evin Lewis (65) and Nicholas Pooran (42), West Indies never looked in the chase. Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished with a 4-wicket haul to lead India to a victory.

After their clean sweep in the T20I series where India won 3-0, the visitors look on course for another clean sweep. India has beaten West Indies by 59 runs in a rain-curtailed second ODI game to take a 1-0 lead in the ODI series with one match remaining to play. The first game between both these sides was washed out due to inclement weather and poor pitch conditions.

Out! That's the end. Shami gest his second wicket and West Indies are bowled out for 210 runs. Oshane Thomas is the last man to depart given leg before wicket after being caught plumb in front of the wicket.  O Thomas lbw b Shami 0(1).

Out! Sheldon Cottrell departs after a brief cameo. He had smashed Shami for a boundary over mid-wicket in the previous delivery but looked for one more and ended up in slicing the short delivery up towards back point where Ravindra Jadeja takes a good running catch. S Cottrell c Jadeja b Shami 17(18).

Jason Holder and Sheldon Cottrell are at the crease with West Indies quickly finding themselves at the opposite end from what minutes ago looked to be their chase to get. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's four-wicket haul has left the hosts chasing 78 runs in 42 deliveries but with just 2 wickets in hand. Skipper Jason Holder is the only recognised batsman at the crease.

OUT! Bhuvneshwar Kumar is single-handedly destroying West Indies. The Indian medium-pacer has his fourth wicket of the match after going through Kemar Roach. Roach like his predecessor goes for a three-ball duck. K Roach b Bhuvneshwar 0(3).

Out! West Indies are throwing it way here. The chase which certainly looked theirs with Evin Lewis and Nicholas Pooran at the crease are now reduced to 181/7 with Carlos Brathwaite out for a three-ball duck. Brathwaite c Shami b Jadeja 0(3).

Out! Bhuvneshwar Kumar Takes a brilliant one-handed stunner to remove Roston Chase. The West Indies all-rounder was looking to play nudge it but Bhuvi sees the ball travelling in the air and leaps to his wrong side to take a superb catch. R Chase c and b Bhuvneshwar 18(23).

Out!  Nicholas Pooran throws off a start. Pooran, who was nearing a half-century went with a nothing shot and has to go back. The young left-handed looked confident of taking West Indies deeper into the chase but lack of patience means results in him ending up chasing a half-decker from Bhuveneshwar Kumar delivery only to find Virat Kohli at deep mid-wicket.  N Pooran c Kohli b Bhuvneshwar 42(52).

Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav keep West Indies at bay with some economical bowling. Kuldeep ends spell with figures of 10-59-2 as Nicholas Pooran and Chase tries to speed the scoring ante. Pooran tries some cheeky unorthodox shots but to no effect.
