Indian pacer Irfan Pathan has decided to hang his boots from all forms of cricket with an immediate effect. The announcement was made a few minutes ago at the studios of Star Sports where he interacted with his fans while going live on the television as well as on Facebook. Pathan made a debut in 2003 and had a memorable tour to Australia as a 19-year-old. Owing to his killer spells he was compared to Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram. His hat-trick against Pakistan in 2006 at the National Stadium in Karachi remains the highlight of his career. As of now, Irfan is appearing in a movie which is going to be directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu and will also feature Vikram aka Chiyaan Vikram. However, not much has been revealed about Irfan Pathan's role in the movie so far. He is also the coach of the Jammu Kashmir domestic cricket team currently.

In his nine-year career, Pathan played 29 Test matches and snapped 100 wickets with an average of 32.26. In the longest format of the game, Pathan’s strike rate was 58.8. He played 120 ODIs and scalped 173 wickets with an average of 29.72 and had a strike rate of 33.8. Having played 24 T20Is, the 35-year-old scalped 28 wickets. Pathan played his last ODI in August 2012 against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele Stadium where he snapped five wickets and bowled at an economy of 6.10.
