The first game of India and Australia started on December 6, 2018 at Adelaide, Oval.  It was not a very good day for the Indians as the ghosts of England continued to haunt the visitors. India once again got marred with the issues of the opening slot. The fall of wickets was so frequent that India by lunch was trotting on 56/4.  Only Chesteshwar Pujara who headlined the day with the blistering knock by 123 runs. Apart from Pujara, no other batsman could touch the score of 40 runs.  Rohit Sharma Gets Out After Hitting a Reckless Shot During India vs Australia 2018, 1st Test (Watch Video Highlights).

India’s veteran batsman, Sunil Gavaskar was also disappointed with the batting performance and slammed the Indian batters for the dismal show. "That (poor outside the off-stump) is an understatement. They [India batsmen] were just reaching out for deliveries which they could have very well left alone. The only exception may be KL Rahul but all the others played shots that they could have avoided," said Gavaskar during the post-lunch show. Day 2 is said to be quite crucial for the Indians as they would look to restrict the Aussies on a minimal score.
