Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi reached a significant career milestone on Friday, claiming his 300th international wicket for Afghanistan during the final of the ODI Tri-Nation Series against Zimbabwe at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Nabi’s disciplined spell helped dismiss Zimbabwe for 169 runs, setting up a comprehensive seven-wicket victory that secured the tournament trophy for his side. WTC Final 2027: How South Africa's Win Over Australia Boosts India's Qualification Chances.

Milestone Reached in Sharjah Final

Nabi entered the final needing two wickets to reach the 300-wicket landmark across all formats for his country. Operating with his customary control, the 41-year-old off-spinner took two wickets for 25 runs in his 10 overs, curtailing Zimbabwe's momentum through the middle overs.

With this performance, Nabi became only the second bowler in Afghanistan’s international cricket history to surpass 300 dismissals, following leg-spinner Rashid Khan.

Clinical Bowling Display Restricts Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe struggled against Afghanistan's bowling unit after batting first. Although Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza led a determined fightback with an 83-ball 68, the African side lacked sustained partnerships and were bundled out in 43.3 overs. Alongside Nabi's economical spell, Rashid Khan led the wicket-taking with figures of 3 for 41, while seamers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Bilal Sami claimed two wickets apiece to dismantle Zimbabwe's line-up. Christchurch Weather Forecast and Rain Chances for India vs New Zealand 2nd T20I 2026.

Afghanistan Cruise to the Title

In response, Afghanistan chased down the 170-run target with little difficulty, completing the pursuit in 34.3 overs with 93 balls to spare. Top-order batsman Ibrahim Zadran anchored the innings with an unbeaten 70 off 96 deliveries, while Rahmat Shah contributed 43. Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi struck the winning boundary to finish the chase and seal an emphatic tri-series championship win.

A Pillar of Afghan Cricket

Nabi reached the 300-wicket mark in his 339th international appearance. Having made his international debut in 2009, he has served as a central figure throughout Afghanistan’s transition from ICC associate cricket to full Test status. In addition to his bowling achievements, Nabi remains Afghanistan's highest run-scorer in international cricket, with more than 6,300 runs to his name.
