Former India captain MS Dhoni was left out of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) player contracts for India’s senior men’s team. Dhoni last represented India in the 2019 Cricket World Cup. After the tournament, Dhoni went on a sabbatical and did not feature in India’s limited-overs assignments. Rumours have been doing the rounds that Dhoni is set to retire from international cricket. Now with BCCI leaving the wicket-keeper batsman out of the annual contracts has further triggered his retirement speculations. Team India head coach Ravi Shastri recently in an interview said that Dhoni could soon end his ODI career soon. Shastri, however, was clear that if the former Indian captain has a good Indian Premier League (IPL) season, then he will be considered for the T20 World Cup to be held in October-November 2020. Dhoni in 2014 retired from Tests and since then has been playing only limited-overs cricket.
