Raghu Sharma Makes Statement

'Very Painful 15 Years ...'

An emotional milestone at the Wankhede

Sharma, making only his second appearance in the tournament, achieved the milestone during the 13th over of the first innings at the Wankhede Stadium. Bowling a cleverly flighted delivery, he deceived LSG debutant Akshat Raghuwanshi. The batter's mistimed push resulted in a pad-and-bat deflection, allowing Sharma to complete a simple caught-and-bowled dismissal.

Dreams Do Come True

Immediately following the wicket, Sharma pulled a folded slip of paper from his pocket as his teammates, including stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav, gathered to celebrate. The note, which was later held up to the broadcast cameras by teammate Deepak Chahar, read: “Radhe Radhe. A very painful 15 years by divine mercy of Gurudeva ended today. Thanks Mumbai Indians (Blue and Gold) for giving me this opportunity. Ever grateful. Jai Shri Ram.” . Why is Hardik Pandya Not Playing in MI vs LSG IPL 2026 Match?.

The 15-year domestic grind

Despite making his first-class debut in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy and consistently picking up wickets across formats, including a standout 14-wicket campaign in the recent 2024–25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, an IPL contract had historically eluded him. He joined the Mumbai Indians setup initially as a net bowler before being signed as a squad replacement, finally making his debut earlier this season against Chennai Super Kings.
