Once again it was a brilliant start by the Kiwi opening bowlers. Matt Henry and Trent Boult set the early tone but the back-up bowlers didn't manage to create the same kind of impact. Henry with a 4-fer was the most successful bowler while Boult once again impressed with a 3-wicket haul. The pitch has a little bit of spice in it and the Indian new-ball bowlers would like to use that to their advantage. Do join us in a short while for the chase.

Great recovery from India! They were struggling at 18/4 at one stage but then Shankar and Rayudu revived the innings with a 98-run stand. The former was unfortunate to get run out after a mix-up but the latter continued and added yet another useful stand with Kedar Jadhav. Rayudu missed out on his century and New Zealand bounced back towards the end by picking wickets at regular intervals. But Hardik Pandya's 22-ball 45 cameo helped India cross the 250-run mark.

Trent Boult to Yuzvendra Chahal. OUT! Run out! Full and on middle, Chahal pushes it back and Shami comes out of the crease in search of a run. Boult collects the ball and runs at his end to break the stumps. Shami has no way back. India are all out for 252!

Trent Boult to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. OUT! Well caught by Ross Taylor! A fuller length delivery on off, Bhuvneshwar reaches out for it with the intention to go over covers. Hits it well but not well enough to take it over Taylor at the edge of the circle. Rosco goes down to grab it safely.

Trent Boult to Mohammed Shami. Angles in a full ball on middle, Shami rotates his bat across the line and inside edges it down to fine leg for one.

James Neesham to Hardik Pandya. OUT! It is a legal delivery and Pandya has to walk back. He is dismissed off a full toss. Also a lot of credit has to be given to Boult as he has taken an absolute blinder. A full toss on the pads, Pandya swings but ends up getting a top edge in the square leg region. Boult at short fine leg runs towards the ball and takes it by stretching forward. Neesham, however, is asking him to throw it back as there is a doubt of it being a no ball. Boult does exactly that as the batters complete two. The umpire though has not signaled one as of now but Pandya is seen standing his ground. The umpires now come together and take it upstairs. Replays show the delivery is below waist height. End of a brilliant cameo by Pandya. He has provided the much-needed impetus to the innings.

What happened there? Hardik Pandya is caught brilliantly by Trent Boult but the umpire wants to check for the waist high full toss. Is it dipping in?

James Neesham to Hardik Pandya. FOUR! Feel bad for the bowler there, that delivery did not deserve to go to the boundary. A yorker on off, Pandya manages to jam it out past the fielder at short third man and into the fence. 15 from the over with a ball to go. Can he end it with a bang?

However, the replays later on show that Pandya did not ground any part inside the crease and it has been signaled as one short.

James Neesham to Hardik Pandya. Good change in length and pace. Slower short ball, Pandya does not play a shot thinking it is a wide. The umpire though feels differently. Pandya is not happy and rightly so. The replays show that it went over his head.

The slower one on off, Jadhav at first looks to dab it down to third man but then seeing the line he tries to work it on the leg side. Is done in by the lack of pace, gets an inside edge onto his pads and then onto the stumps. Henry gets his fourth and all four have been crucial wickets. This one also as the Kiwis are now into the lower-order. 250 looks a touch farfetched. All depends on Pandya now.

It is on a fuller length so Rayudu looks to go over covers. But his bat turns in his hands and he ends up slicing it towards the man in the deep. Munro there runs forward and takes a neat catch. An excellent knock from Rayudu comes to an end. He though will be disappointed as he misses out on a well-deserved ton. Another timely wicket for the Kiwis and that too of the set batsman. They have also put a full stop to the partnership which was becoming dangerous.

Timely for New Zealand as the two were looking to up the ante now. Also, they will be delighted to see the back of Shankar as he was really playing well. A huge mix-up has brought about his downfall. Munro lands it on middle, Vijay pushes it towards mid on and wants a run. He sets off but then seeing Ambati Rayudu ball-watching, he stops. In the meantime, the fielder from short mid-wicket runs after the ball. Rayudu realizes late that Shankar wants a run and then goes for it. Shankar though had started returning towards his crease, after seeing Rayudu run towards him, he goes for the single. But it was too late. Yes, Neesham did miss his shy at the bowler's end but Munro collected the ball and then underarms it onto the stumps at his end. Shankar walks back dejected and India now have half their side back in the hut.

Drinks! 40/4 and there ain't much to say! It was the repeat telecast of the last ODI as the Indian top half faltered against moving balls. Shankar and Rayudu are trying to revive the innings and are amidst a 22-run stand. India will hope that this pair continues for as long as possible. For the Kiwis, they just need to maintain the same intensity in the middle overs and keep chipping away at the wickets.

Mentions they did not have a lot of time after the first game but they will have to read the conditions better and learn from their mistakes. Further adds that had they got close to 200, the story might just have been different in the last ODI. Reckons the average total here is around 240 but if they bat well, they can get close to 300.
