The rain had already disrupted a couple of games between Sri Lanka vs England ODIs. Little did the England team know that even their practice session would be disrupted due to a surprise visitor The England team who was up for a practice session at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka ahead of the third ODI was greeted by a cobra. The practice session was thus and the officials obviously sprang into action to get hold of the venomous snake.

The groundsmen were seen trying to get hold of the cobra with the help of sticks and pipes. The snake did not come into their hands easily though and resisted. The official account of England shared the video of the same with the caption, “A surprise visitor to training this morning..." The snake was around three feet long but as Trevor Bayliss said, “If there is a small one there is usually a large one nearby.”

On Wednesday, the two teams played for 15 overs at Dambulla and then was called off to due to heavy showers. England then snatched a 31 run victory by DLS method. Skipper Eoin Morgan was selected as the Man of the Match for scoring 92 runs. The third ODI will be played on Thursday, October 17, 2018. “It was not a bad start to the series. Was a halted start, right from the training days due to the rain. I wouldn't say it's been our best game. We have a few more gears than what we showed today. Ultimately we did win but not all that satisfied," said skipper Morgan in the post-match presentation.
