Why Virat Kohli Did Not Take Field In Second Innings?

So far, several rumours are doing the rounds regarding Kohli's absence in the field at Wankhede Stadium for RCB, with reports suggesting the ace batter is out due to an ankle injury, while Ravi Shastri, in commentary, allegedly claimed that the former Indian captain is unwell and is struggling with a mild fever.

Official confirmation from IPL or RCB is still awaited, and both these reasons are purely speculative. Interestingly, RCB did not utilise Kohli as an impact sub, bringing in spinner Suyash Sharma for Tim David. However, Kohli could take the field anytime in the second innings as the player is still part of the playing XI. Virat Kohli Throws Glove and Helmet Near Boundary In Frustration After Getting Dismissed In MI vs RCB IPL 2026, Video Goes Viral.

In the first innings, Kohli played an comparitively slow knock compared to others, scoring 50 off 38, while Phil Salt and Rajat Patidar brisked to their respective fifties. The batter's innings included five fours and one six, which also saw the RCB player climb to fifth place in most runs in the IPL 2026 season, with 179.
