India have displayed a brilliant show in the ongoing South Asian Games 2019 and have completed 50 medals in the multi-sport tournament in Nepal. According to the latest tally, India have 20 golds, 20 silvers and 10 bronze medals. On the Day 4 of the tournament, India clinched golds in tennis and badminton to cross the 50-medal landmark. They became the third nation to reach the prestigious landmark in this tournament after hosts Nepal and Sri Lanka. Nepal are at the pinnacle of the medal tally with 53 medals while Sri Lanka are placed at the third position after India with 52 medals. Some of India’s notable victories came in sports like volleyball, shooting, taekwondo and wushu where the Indian players shone and clinched gold medals. Even, it was India only who topped the charts with 318 medals in the last edition of the mega-tournament in 2016. They have certainly extended their good run and will add many more medals to the nation’s tally. The 2019 edition of South Asian Games went underway on December 1 and will run till 10th of December. Seven Asian sides are competing across 28 sports in the 10-days event. India are the most successful nation in the history of the tournament as they have more than 1100 medals. They have also made a brilliant start in the ongoing tournament.
