Claude AI Indian Billing: Anthropic Launches India-Specific Subscription Prices in INR
Anthropic has launched Claude AI Indian billing, allowing users to pay for Claude subscriptions in Indian rupees instead of US dollars. Plans start at INR 2,000 per month, with business and premium tiers also receiving local pricing. The move reflects Anthropic's growing focus on India, now its second-largest market globally.
Anthropic has begun rolling out India-specific pricing for its Claude AI assistant, allowing users to subscribe in Indian rupees instead of US dollars. The move eliminates the need for dollar-denominated payments and is expected to make Claude more accessible to Indian users, underscoring the company's growing focus on what it now describes as its second-largest market after the United States.
The local pricing is appearing across Claude's paid plans on the web and mobile apps. The update comes as global AI companies accelerate their expansion in India, one of the world's fastest-growing markets for generative artificial intelligence, where competition among AI assistant providers continues to intensify.
Claude AI Subscription Plans Get Rupee Pricing
Under the new pricing structure, Claude Pro is available at INRÂ 2,000 per month with annual billing or INRÂ 2,399 per month when billed monthly.
Anthropic has also introduced two Claude Max plans priced at INRÂ 11,999 and INRÂ 23,999 per month, offering higher usage limits aimed at developers, researchers and power users.
For businesses, the Claude Team plan starts at INRÂ 2,399 per user per month with annual billing, while the Premium Team plan is priced at INRÂ 11,999 per user per month. All listed prices include GST.
India Emerges as a Key Growth Market
The pricing update reflects India's growing strategic importance for Anthropic. According to the company, India has become its second-largest market globally after the United States, accounting for 5.8% of Claude's worldwide user base.
Earlier this year, CEO Dario Amodei said Anthropic's revenue run rate in India had doubled within four months, highlighting the country's rapid adoption of generative AI technologies.
Anthropic Expands Its Presence in India
Anthropic has steadily increased its investments in India over the past year. In February, the company opened its first office in Bengaluru and has since expanded its engagement with developers and enterprise customers. It has also partnered with fintech company Razorpay to make Claude more accessible to businesses building AI-powered products and services.
The introduction of local currency billing comes as competition in India's AI assistant market continues to grow. OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and Perplexity have all expanded their presence in India through new products, enterprise offerings and strategic partnerships.
By introducing rupee-denominated subscriptions, Anthropic is removing one of the biggest barriers to paid adoption while signalling that India will play a central role in its long-term global growth strategy.
India has become one of the fastest-growing markets for generative AI, driven by a large developer ecosystem, growing enterprise adoption and increasing consumer interest in AI-powered productivity tools. Several global AI companies have recently strengthened their India operations through local partnerships, regional offices and pricing tailored to Indian customers.
