The Port of Seattle has been hit by a possible cyberattack which caused it to have systemwide failure affecting the website, phone and email of the employees.

Seattle, August 26: Cyberattackers have possibly targeted The Port of Seattle, including SEA Airport causing massive system outages. The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport said that it could not confirm the estimated time of return as the Port teams working to restore the full service. The port advised travellers to check with their airlines for travel information and use their apps to get onboarding passes and bag tags online and also allow more time till they get an SEA seat and to their gate.

More on this issue, GeekWire said in its report that the possible cyberattack may have affected the websites and phone systems of The Port of Seattle. The port started facing the issues on Sunday at 9:00 AM PT which caused the web infrastructure to go offline including its website and phone systems. Port of Seattle Under Cyberattack

The report highlighted that the issue was reported after the Microsoft global IT outage which affected several systems of the airlines. The outage suffered by Seattle's port also affected the email and phones of the employees. Alaska Airlines said that it was able to fly its full schedule in and out of Seattle; however, it started experiencing some issues at the Port of Seattle's baggage sorting system. It warned the passengers flying out of the city to pack light and avoid checking bags when no need.

On the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport port, six flights were cancelled on Saturday and four on Sunday. Microsoft announced that it would address the global IT outage caused by CrowdStrike on September 10 and discuss key points about cybersecurity. Besides, the President Biden already signed an executive order for stronger cybersecurity of the American ports.
