What Hartvick Said
Hartvick said the development team was asked to pitch mission ideas, and that the invitation was open to anyone who wanted to design and describe a concept. His pitch was the "Pet Tiger" mission.
He did not describe how the mission would work. He did suggest it could still appear in the final game, either with a tiger or with a jaguar. In his words, if such a mission exists, "that might be mine." GTA 6 Will Avoid Real-World Political Figures and Events, Confirms Rockstar Games.
Hartvick also said he does not know whether the idea survived into the finished game.
How Rockstar Handles Mission Pitches
According to Hartvick, the people responsible for the final content would assess each pitch to see whether it suited the main storyline, worked as a side mission, or did not fit at all. He added that pitching was easier at that stage because the main story was still being developed and had room to change. Hartvick said this happened early in development, before the story was clearly defined. That timing means a pitched idea may have been reshaped or dropped since.
Background: Animals in GTA 6
The Grand Theft Auto series has featured animal-focused missions before. GTA 5 let players control Franklin's pet rottweiler, Chop, during the campaign.
Rockstar has also pointed to a large animal roster for the new game. Game Informer's recent coverage confirmed more than 170 species in GTA 6, including 60 types of birds. A tiger could be among them, though Rockstar has not confirmed it.
Earlier reports have also said the game will include a functioning zoo that players can visit. Some fans have speculated about zoo-related missions, but Rockstar has not announced any.
What Is Confirmed and What Is Not
The only source for the tiger mission is a former employee's recollection of a pitch. Rockstar has not confirmed that any such mission exists, and Hartvick has not said it was approved. Players will find out when the game launches next month.
