Senior Meta executives will visit India to discuss content moderation policies with MeitY officials following the brief removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Facebook post. Senior executives from Meta's global team are expected to visit India within the next fortnight to meet senior officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The discussions will focus on explaining the company's content moderation policies following the temporary removal of a post by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As per a report by Business Standard, ministry secretary S Krishnan noted that Meta introduced new protocols for handling accounts of prominent individuals on July 28, just a day after the Prime Minister's video addressing student protests regarding examination paper leaks was briefly taken down from Facebook. Beyond the MeitY meetings, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology has summoned senior representatives from Meta, X, Snapchat, and Google.
