Meta has launched its Muse AI assistant on iPad, expanding the availability of its AI agent just a month after the app arrived on iPhone. The move highlights Meta's growing focus on AI agents that can perform tasks for users instead of simply answering questions.

Muse launched on iOS and Android on September 8 and has already crossed 6.6 million installs. The AI assistant is designed to help users manage various aspects of their digital lives, including emails, meetings, bills and other everyday tasks.

Meta Muse AI Assistant Gets New Connectors

Unlike traditional AI chatbots, Muse can perform certain tasks on behalf of users. These include booking reservations, ordering groceries, setting goals and making purchases.

Users can connect their online accounts to Muse and choose which services they want the AI assistant to access. Meta refers to these integrations as 'connectors', allowing users to sign into supported services based on the level of access they are comfortable giving the AI. What Is Meta Muse? With the iPad launch, Meta has expanded the list of connectors available on Muse. The supported work and productivity services include Asana, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, QuickBooks, GitHub, Klaviyo and Zoom. Meta has also added support for Notion and Granola as well as connectors for Meta advertising accounts.

Muse Can Help Users Shop Online

Meta is also working with retailers including Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart and Wayfair. These integrations allow Muse to browse retailer websites and complete purchases on behalf of users. What Is Muse Image? How To Use Meta’s New AI Image Generator, Where It’s Available and Is It Free?

The development is part of the broader push towards AI agents that can interact with websites and online services to complete tasks rather than simply provide information or recommendations.

AI Agents Face Website Access Challenges

Despite the growing capabilities of AI agents, they still face technical limitations. Some websites can identify AI agents as bots and block their access, potentially preventing Muse from completing a requested task.

Meta recently said it is working with industry partners on an open standard that could allow AI agents to identify themselves to websites. Such a system could make it easier for AI assistants to interact with online services while giving websites greater visibility into automated activity.
