Bengaluru, January 4: With flagship smartphone prices climbing steadily in 2025, Indian consumers were bracing for another round of hikes in 2026. However, a new report from South Korea suggests that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series may not get a price increase in the US, but the same relief may not extend to India.
According to South Korean media, Samsung has decided to launch the Galaxy S26 lineup in the US at the same prices as the Galaxy S25 series to avoid losing market share to Apple and fast-growing Chinese smartphone brands. If true, the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra will continue at USD 799, USD 999, and USD 1,299 respectively in the US. Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+ Launching in India on January 6 With 200MP Cameras and 7,000mAh Battery.
However, the report clearly states that this price freeze is limited to the US market. Prices in other regions, including India, could be higher due to rising component costs, currency fluctuations, and import duties. For Indian buyers, this could mean another premium jump for Samsung’s flagship phones, which already see higher pricing compared to the US after taxes and duties. The same strategy is reportedly being applied to Samsung’s foldables, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 expected to retain US pricing, while India and other markets may see adjustments. Interestingly, Samsung is also said to be planning price hikes for select Galaxy A series models, a segment that is particularly important in India.
While Samsung has not officially confirmed launch timelines, reports suggest the Galaxy S26 series could be unveiled on February 25 in San Francisco, US, with Indian availability likely to follow shortly after. The Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 are expected to debut globally in July, with India pricing keenly watched by consumers.
