Samsung launched Galaxy smartphone in two versions, S9 and S9+ at Mobile World Congress 2018 on Sunday. The world's biggest mobile technology show which is held every year in Barcelona saw new Samsung Galaxy phones make their global debut. the new product by Samsung promises with several features such as super slow-motion capture (960 fps), dual aperture camera that adapts like your eye, stunning infinity display and dual Stereo Speakers tuned by Harman. In fact, with the F1.5 aperture mode, there is no thing called low light condition as it will find light even in the dark. And then there is wireless charging and headphone jack! Can this get any better? Yes, it does.

The South Korean electronics giant also launched a feature called AR Emoji (take that iPhone X’s Animoji), which allows a user to take a selfie and turn it into their own custom emoji. It allows you to create an animated version of yourself that shows off the inner you. Then, the user can add a personal touch to their message with an emoji that follows their movements and expressions.  Samsung also boasts of an improved version of Bixby, its smart digital assistant. Samsung Galaxy S9 runs Android 8.0 Oreo.

Tech Specifications of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

Samsung Galaxy S9 - It is available in Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Lilac Purple colours. The internal storage of this version is 64 GB (All colours), 256 GB (Midnight Black only). Samsung Galaxy S9 dimension is 147.7 x 68.7 x 8.5mm (163 g) with 5.8-inch, Quad HD+ sAMOLED display. Coming to the much-talked-about camera of Galaxy S9, it's Rear: Super Speed Dual Pixel 12 MP, OIS (F1.5/F2.4) with Front as 8MP AF (F1.7). It has Octa-core, 10 nm process processor and all of this powered by 3,000 mAh battery. There is 64GB of internal memory which can be upgraded to a 400GB with a microSD card. The RAM size is 4GB.

Samsung Galaxy S9 sensors include Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Compass, Hall Sensor,HR Sensor, Proximity Sensor, RGB Light Sensor, Pressure sensor. The connectivity concerns 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 G+5 GHz, VHT80 MU-MIMO Bluetooth® v 5.0 (LE up to 2 Mbps), ANT+, USB Type C. Meanwhile, the security is beefed up with Iris scanner, Fingerprint Scanner and Face Detection.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ - The second version of Samsung Galaxy, S9+ also comes in a simillar set of colours - Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Lilac Purple with internal storage 64 GB (All colours), 256 GB (Midnight Black only) same as Galaxy S9. It is the dimension and display, which is different from its other variant. With 158.1 x 73.8 x 8.5mm (189 g) dimension and 6.2-inch, Quad HD+ sAMOLED display, Samsung Galaxy 9+ is slightly bigger.

Again, the camera of Galaxy 9+ packs a better punch with rear: Super Speed Dual Pixel 12 MP OIS (F1.5/F2.4) + 12 MP OIS (F2.4) and front: 8MP AF (F1.7). While the processor remains same at Octa-core, 10 nm process, it promises a better battery life at 3,500 mAh. The RAM size increases from S9’s 4 GB to Galaxy S9+ getting 6 GB. The Internal Memory is 64 GB/256 GB with an additional external memory to 400 GB with a microSD card. In terms of sensors, connectivity and security, Galaxy S9+ is same as that of S9.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ Prices

Samsung which launched Galaxy S9 and S9 plus on February 25, 2018, will be available to buy from March 16 in USD 720 for former and USD 840 for the latter model for customers in the US. Pre-orders start on March 2. The high-end smartphone in the States will be sold by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS, Best Buy, Amazon, Costco, Sam's Club, Target, and Walmart. Samsung.com and the Shop Samsung app will have the S9 unlocked for USD 719.99, or USD 30 per month for two years. Galaxy S9 plus will cost USD 839.99 or USD 35 per month for two years. Samsung in its press release further added that starting March 2, 2018, consumers who pre-order a Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ can save up to USD $350 with a qualifying trade-in.
