UFOs Near Moon? Scientists Report More Than 20 Unidentified Objects, Suggest Possible Advanced Nonhuman Technology
Scientists from Ukraine’s Main Astronomical Observatory have reported observing more than 20 unidentified objects moving near and across the Moon in 2025, with some showing unusual brightness changes and movement patterns. The unreviewed study suggests the objects could represent advanced technology, but researchers acknowledge there is no confirmed evidence of extraterrestrial activity or artificial structures on the Moon.
Astronomers at Ukraine’s Main Astronomical Observatory have reported observing more than 20 unidentified objects moving near and across the Moon during observations conducted in 2025. The researchers said some objects displayed unusual movement and brightness patterns, raising questions about their origin and whether they could be linked to unknown technology.
The findings come from a study that has not yet undergone peer review. While the researchers suggested the objects could represent evidence of a technologically advanced nonhuman civilisation, there is currently no independent confirmation that the objects are extraterrestrial or artificial in nature. Study Identifies 2 Categories of Unidentified Objects
The researchers said they identified two main categories of objects: "atmospheric" objects that appeared to remain stationary relative to the Moon, and "continental" objects that appeared to move across the lunar surface.
The team reported that some objects showed repeated changes in brightness and rotation patterns. According to the study, these characteristics could indicate structured behaviour, although the researchers acknowledged that the observations do not prove intelligent control. "UFOs are observed on Earth and in near-Earth space. We believe that the moon serves as a base for UFOs," the team shared in the study. The researchers suggested that the objects could potentially reach Earth within 20 minutes and appear in the atmosphere as unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs).
Observations Captured Through Telescope Camera
The main group of more than 20 unidentified objects was recorded during two observation periods on September 7, 2025, beginning at 7.05pm and 7.27pm ET.
Additional ring-shaped objects were reportedly detected during another observation on August 16, 2025, at 2.52am ET.
The observations were captured using a high-speed camera attached to a telescope in Vinarivka, a village in Ukraine’s Kyiv region. The camera recorded 20 images per second, allowing researchers to track objects that were otherwise difficult to observe.
The scientists said some objects were extremely faint and appeared as small as a two-by-two-pixel mark against the Moon.
Researchers Estimate Large Object Sizes
Using reflected light measurements, researchers estimated the possible sizes of some objects. They said that even assuming the objects reflected all sunlight reaching them, they could have measured around 1,440 feet across.
If the objects reflected light similarly to the Moon’s surface, researchers estimated they could have been more than one mile wide. However, the team noted that the actual size remains uncertain because the composition and reflectivity of the objects are unknown.
Some objects classified as "continental" UFOs were reported to move rapidly across the lunar surface. One object was estimated to have travelled nearly 14 miles at a speed of 4.1 miles per second. Two other objects were described as large disc-shaped structures measuring approximately 16 miles and 25 miles across, according to the study.
Ring-Shaped Objects Raise Additional Questions
During the August observation, researchers reported detecting several large ring-shaped objects in the daytime sky. The team said these objects became visible only after image enhancement using false-color processing.
The researchers claimed the objects appeared dark because they absorbed most radiation reaching them. They estimated the rings measured about 22 miles across and rotated once every three minutes while moving at speeds of up to 6.8 miles per second.
Based on their estimated size and rotation speed, researchers calculated that the objects could generate centrifugal forces greater than twice Earth's gravity. They suggested this raised the possibility that the structures could produce artificial gravity, although the claim remains unverified.
Scientists Caution Evidence Remains Unconfirmed
The study's conclusions depend on the assumption that the detected shapes were actual objects near the Moon rather than atmospheric effects, camera artifacts or errors introduced during image processing.
The research has not been peer-reviewed, and its claims of giant technologically advanced craft have not been independently confirmed.
NASA and the US government have previously stated that while some UAP sightings remain unexplained, no confirmed evidence has shown that any involve extraterrestrial technology or alien civilisations.
