Once accompanied by 2 bodyguards, he now travels with a team of security guards. The change is said to come amid rising threats. The increase in security measures highlights Musk has gone to ensure his safety amid increasing concerns.

As per a report of The New York Times, Musk, who previously had two bodyguards, now travels with up to 20 security professionals. Elon Musk security guards are responsible for researching escape routes, clearing rooms before Musk enters, and maintaining constant vigilance. Musk's security expenses have increased significantly, reaching millions annually, according to a report of MoneyControl. This is because he has a team of highly trained security guards and specialists to protect him. Elon Musk’s security measures reflect the growing risks he might face as a high-profile figure.

Reports suggest that his security has adopted practices similar to that of a mini secret service, with protocols in place to manage potential risks. Elon Musk himself has reportedly acknowledged the increased risks. During Tesla's annual shareholder meeting in June, he reportedly mentioned, “The probability that a homicidal maniac will try to kill you is proportionate to how many homicidal maniacs hear your name.” According to reports, Musk's security costs have significantly risen. In 2023, Tesla spent USD 2.4 million on Musk's protection, and an additional USD 5,00,000 was allocated in the 1st two months of 2024.
