Second F-16 Mishap Within a Week
Tuesday's incident marks the second F-16 loss for the US military in recent days. Another F-16 crashed less than a week ago, this one in Grand Traverse County, Michigan.
The pilot, a member of the 149th Fighter Wing of the Texas National Guard, ejected and was in stable condition, a spokesperson said. The Texas Military Department said the pilot had been on a routine training mission when the incident occurred.
The crash remains under investigation, and no injuries on the ground were reported. Both separate crashes have prompted safety reviews into aircraft maintenance and operational protocols across active and National Guard units.
