The warning came after Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed on Saturday that they had launched missiles and drones at what they described as 'sensitive' sites in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh. Flames and a large plume of black smoke were reported near Riyadh's main airport.

US Warns of Flight Cancellations, Airspace Closures

The US government has separately listed Saudi Arabia at Level 3, 'Reconsider Travel', citing risks including armed conflict, terrorism and missile and drone attacks. The advisory says commercial flights remain operational but have faced significant disruptions at times. Houthis Claim Missile And Drone Attacks on Riyadh
The Houthis said their forces targeted sites in Riyadh with missiles and drones. Saudi Arabia's military coalition said its air defences intercepted a missile fired towards the capital and also reported thwarting attacks targeting other parts of the kingdom. Authorities later issued an all-clear in Riyadh.
The latest attacks come amid an escalation in fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. Reuters has reported that the clashes have included attacks on Saudi cities and energy infrastructure.
US Warns of Threats to Americans and US Interests
The State Department also warned that US diplomatic facilities and other American interests could face threats amid the worsening regional security situation.
The department said Iran and groups supportive of Iran could target US interests overseas or locations associated with Americans, including US businesses and other institutions. Americans in the Middle East have been advised to follow security alerts issued by US embassies and consulates.
The warning comes as regional tensions continue to affect civilian travel, airspace and security across parts of the Middle East.
