In a major relief for Ganeshotsav devotees, Railways will not operate any daytime megablock on Mumbai's suburban routes on Sunday. Services across Central, Western, Harbour, and Uran lines will run normally. Central Railway will operate a block on the 5th and 6th lines between Thane and Kalyan, while WR plans a night jumbo block between Santacruz and Mahim.

Mumbai Mega Block on September 20
While regular suburban services will run as per schedule, the railway administration confirmed that maintenance activity will be limited to designated corridors. A four-hour block will be undertaken on the fifth and sixth lines between Thane and Kalyan from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Because this block is confined to the fifth and sixth lines, it will not disrupt local suburban passenger operations on the Main Line. To carry out necessary track, signaling, and engineering maintenance without disturbing daytime festival traffic, Western Railway will operate a jumbo block during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The midnight block will be enforced between Santacruz and Mahim stations. It will affect the Up fast line from midnight to 4:00 am, while the Down fast line will remain under block from 12:30 am to 4:30 am. During this night window, fast line services will be diverted onto the slow line between Andheri and Churchgate to ensure continuity of operations.
