A popular 21-year-old transgender TikTok influencer and hairstylist was shot and killed during an argument inside a vehicle in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. The victim, Maurice Harrison, who was widely known online by her social media moniker "Girlalala," died from her injuries at a local hospital. Following an investigation supported by critical video evidence, authorities arrested her longtime boyfriend, 25-year-old Shanoyd Whyte Jr., and charged him with murder.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting occurred shortly before 7 p.m. along the 3300 block of Northwest 37th Avenue. Responding deputies discovered Harrison wounded in the passenger seat of a sedan. She was immediately transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Video Evidence and Arrest
Investigators secured a major breakthrough in the case through external video evidence recorded by a nearby vehicle. Footage captured from a passing Tesla detailed the moments immediately following the gunfire, showing the driver exiting the vehicle and interacting with the passenger side where Harrison was seated.
According to authorities, the video shows a man identified as Whyte getting out of the driver's side of the sedan. When the passenger door opened, Harrison attempted to exit the vehicle. The footage shows Whyte grabbing her by the hair, forcing her back inside the car, and subsequently pacing nearby with a cellphone in hand.
A History of Domestic Conflict
Detectives stated that the couple had been involved in a relationship for several years, which friends and relatives described as tumultuous. The fatal shooting reportedly escalated from a verbal argument into a physical altercation while the two were sitting in the parked car.
Background checks revealed that Whyte, a former football player at Bethune-Cookman University, had a prior legal history involving domestic conflict. He was previously arrested in November 2022 for multiple instances of physical battery against a different victim, though that case did not proceed after the individual declined to move forward with the charges.
Harrison had built a significant digital footprint, accumulating nearly 3,00,000 followers on TikTok and over 40,000 followers on Instagram, where she specialized in wig styling and beauty content. Her sudden death has drawn widespread mourning from her online community and family, who are currently dealing with consecutive tragedies. Relatives noted that Harrison's brother was also shot and killed in a separate incident less than two years prior.
