On June 14, the central government unveiled the Agnipath scheme. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs were present for the launch. Under this scheme, nearly 45,000 people between the age of 17.5 years & 21 years will be taken into the services for a four-year tenure. The Congress party attacked the Centre, alleging the decision could compromise the efficiency and operational capability of the three services. General Secretary of the Congress party, Randeep Surjewala tweeted, “Modi government is playing with the dignity, tradition & discipline of the Indian Armed Forces!” Watch the video to know more.
