INDIA Team Latestly|

Bloated, decomposing bodies washed up on May 10 morning on the banks of Ganga at Bihar's Buxar in frightening new visuals that expose the scale of India's Covid-19 crisis. Dozens of bodies were seen floating in the river at Chausa town, on Bihar's border with Uttar Pradesh & later piling up on the banks, to the horror of residents. Local administration believes the bodies floated down from Uttar Pradesh & belong to Covid-19 patients whose relatives may have been unable to find space to cremate or bury them. “Some 40-45 bodies were seen floating," said Chausa district official Ashok Kumar To NDTV, standing at the site of the horror, Mahadeva Ghat in Chausa. There is panic in the town & others nearby about infection from the bodies & from the river water. "People are terrified of getting Covid-19. We have to bury the bodies," said Narendra Kumar, a villager told reporters. “A district administration official came and said they would pay Rs 500 for cleaning up the bodies," a villager told reporters, reported NDTV. India has recorded over three lakh Covid-19 cases daily for nearly three weeks & hit record deaths, over 4,000, last week.
