On June 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the BRICS member nations virtually. Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and top leaders of Brazil and South Africa were part of the virtual meet. This year the summit is being hosted by China. PM Modi said, “Our mutual cooperation can make a useful contribution to the global post-Covid recovery.” Meanwhile, in a speech ahead of a virtual summit with top leaders, Chinese President Xi Jinping warned against expanding military ties.
