Cannes 2022: Women Protest With Smoke Flares To Highlight Violence Against Girls

On May 22, women protesters took to the red carpet of the ongoing Cannes 2022 film festival to protest. The feminist protesters released plumes of smoke from handheld devices, reported Variety. The protesters also displayed a long banner displaying names of 129 women. The incident took place during the premier of Holy Spider. And this was not the first protest by women at the festival this year. On May 20, a woman stripped off on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. The woman had painted her body in the colours of the Ukrainian flag with the words 'Stop Raping Us'. The Cannes film festival began on May 17 and will continue till May 28.
