Chandigarh Power Employees On Strike Over Privatisation, City Reels Under 36 Hour Blackout

Many parts of Chandigarh have been left without electricity and water for over 36 hours now. Chandigarh is facing this problem due to a major blackout following a three-day strike by electricity department workers. Several homes have been without power and water supply since February 21 evening. As per a PTI report, government hospitals have been forced to reschedule many surgeries. In court, the administration has accused the striking workers of acts of sabotage. Electricity workers are protesting against the privatisation of the electricity department.
