Cyclone Amphan: How Did This Super Cyclonic Storm Get Its Name And What Does It Mean?

Cyclone Amphan is the first cyclonic storm for the year 2020. A massive depression turned into Cyclone Amphan on May 16 which has now progressively gotten more intense to be categorised as a Super Cyclone on May 18. Cyclone Amphan is projected to make landfall on the Indian east coast on May 20. The storm was given this name by Thailand. The name 'Amphan' is the last name from the original naming list published in 2004, while Nisarga will be the first name from the new naming list published by the IMD in 2020.
